Salisbury Steak

Yield: 4 patties 

Ingredients:

Steaks:

  • 1 lb. ground beef, lean
  • 1/3 cup Italian breadcrumbs
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 large egg

Mushroom Gravy:

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 medium onion, sliced
  • 1 tsp garlic, minced
  • 8 oz. brown mushrooms, sliced
  • 3 tbsp all purpose flour
  • 1 3/4 cup beef broth
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

Prep Potatoes for Mashed Potatoes

Steaks:

  1. Combine steak ingredients in a bowl and mix. then shape into 4 oval size patties.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add in 1 tbsp oil in pan.
  3. Sear the patties on both sides till crust forms.
  4. Remove patties and set aside.

Mushroom Gravy:

  1. In the same skillet, cook onions until softened and translucent.
  2. Add mushrooms and cook until browned.
  3. Add garlic and cook until fragrant.
  4. Melt butter then add the flour. Cook about 1 to 2 minutes to reduce raw flour flavor.
  5. Reduce heat to medium low add beef broth. Season to taste
  6. Bring to a simmer.
  7. Return steak patties and cover with gravy.
  8. plave a lid on the skillet and cook until the internal temperature of the steak patties reaches 160 degrees F around 10-15 minutes.
